2011 roundup

looking back on this last day of the year to celebrate and let go…what happened in my neck of the woods? acted in and composed music for a magical production of The Piano Lesson at Yale. Egypt reminded us of what democracy looks like. shot a couple episodes of Smash playing Anjelica Huston’s lawyer. left the shore, swimming deep into meditation and Buddhist studies. won the Ruby prize for my play Ramp, and had a prime cast tear up the workshop at New Dramatists. created a collaborative performance piece about alternative healthcare with the Foundry, Morley Kamen, and Flatbush holistic health center Third Root. played Winona Ryder’s shrink in The Stare. assisted Kelly Morris in providing her divine yogic instruction at the Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama and at Wanderlust Vermont. got to return to Melissa James Gibson’s This with homies new and old in LA. surfed, spent beautiful days and nights with old friends. began a regular recurring role as Addy Pickett on Hart of Dixie. sang for Stew’s students at the University of Wisconsin. watched my aunt Angela honored at Black Girls Rock. gave Michael K Williams some love in Ben Snyder’s short film The Come Up. In The Family, an indie I filmed last year, premiered to rave reviews. my play The History of Light had a lively second production at Passage Theatre in Trenton, NJ. marched City Hall and the Brooklyn Bridge for the 100 percent. loved ones passed, were born, got married, made miracles. I gotta say, I’m thankful, inspired, and raring to go! more excitement and evolution to come, and may we all create happiness for each other in this and every new year. love, eisaIMG_1718IMG_1873IMG_1594IMG_1800IMG_1571IMG_1776IMG_1762IMG_1539IMG_1783IMG_1835IMG_1752
